Value, reputation, and effectiveness are considered some of the most important characteristics of the nation's top-ranking law schools. One significant measure of these traits is the level of giving by a school’s alumni, families, friends, faculty, and staff. Without exception, the most reputable schools enjoy a high percentage of participation in annual giving. Giving follows the heart.
Annual gifts are essential to providing South Texas College of Law Houston students and faculty with the necessary resources to move our school forward as a leader in legal education, the legal profession, and within our community. Annual gifts empower STCL Houston to respond quickly to emerging needs and opportunities as they arise; to award scholarships to more deserving students; to attract and retain an outstanding faculty by supporting their teaching and research efforts; and, to keep tuition affordable and our educational experience accessible.
Here are some ways your annual gift can help:
Areas of Greatest Need – providing flexible support for the school’s core needs. Unrestricted gifts can touch every aspect of the student experience, from campus life to faculty support, to the latest technology and upgraded facilities.
Annual Scholarships – ensuring more of the best students can access a STCL Houston education, regardless of financial circumstances. A named annual scholarship is established with an annual gift of $5,000 or more. (An endowed scholarship is established with a gift of $50,000 or more.) Click here for a list of Annual Scholarships.
Program or Department of Choice – providing annual support to academic departments or programs of your choice, such as the Advocacy Program, South Texas Law Review, the Harry L. Reed Oil & Gas Institute, the Randall O. Sorrels Legal Clinics, and the new Institute for International Legal Practice and National Security.
Annual gifts support every aspect of the student experience at STCL Houston, while bolstering our reputation and visibility. With the support of alumni and friends like you, there is no limit to the things we can achieve for our law school, profession, and community. Your donations are a vote of confidence demonstrating your commitment to the law school’s mission and future success.
