South Texas Receives Texas ATJ Law School Service Award
South Texas College of Law was named the recipient of the Texas Access to Justice Commission’s 2015 Law School Commitment to Service Award at the November New Lawyer Induction Ceremony. This award is granted to the law school that has distinguished itself by actively educating students about access to justice issues.

Alumni Spotlight: Ralph Cindrich '78
Like many part-time students at South Texas College of Law, Ralph Cindrich ‘78 attended night classes to balance his full-time work schedule; however, his day job was anything but typical. His job title? Linebacker for the Houston Oilers. While the jump from pro football player to board-certified attorney may seem like a giant leap for some, it was a natural transition for Cindrich.
Polo in the Park 2015 a Great Success!
In its fourth year, Polo in the Park saw more than 100 South Texas alumni, family, and friends come together for a fun-filled afternoon at the Houston Polo Club on November 8. The event, which has been generously sponsored by Trey Bergman ’80 of the Bergman ADR Group since its inception, was a huge success as guests enjoyed delicious fajitas while watching the polo match on a beautiful Sunday afternoon.
Alumni Sptlight: Rina Camhi '98
While South Texas College of Law is known for educating practice-ready graduates, one alumna has taken a much different path. Rina Camhi ’98 practiced corporate law and litigation for two years, but decided she needed a change. As someone who loves working with and meeting new people, Camhi became an entrepreneur and established Elda Management Co. Her company provides property management and brokerage services to national and international absentee owners and investors.
New Energy Alumni Chapter Formed
In September, the South Texas College of Law Alumni Association launched its first affinity group chapter for alumni in the energy sector. It is not surprising with our location in downtown Houston – the energy capital of the Western Hemisphere – there are more than 750 alumni in the greater Houston area involved in the energy sector.
STCL alumni named to 2015 Texas Super Lawyers list
More than 300 South Texas College of Law alumni have been named to the 2015 Texas Super Lawyers list. Published each year by Super Lawyers, a part of Thompson Reuters, the list recognizes outstanding lawyers from more than 70 practices areas who have attained a high degree of peer recognition and professional achievement.
Construction continues on new front entrance project
Construction is well underway on the law school’s new front entrance, thanks to a generous $2 million grant from the Fred '37 and Mabel R. Parks Foundation. See the original architectural renderings and a few current photos of the construction.

Alumnus Brant Stogner '06 of the Houston law firm of Abraham, Watkins, Nichols, Sorrels, Agosto & Friend has been selected for the 2015 Nation's Top One Percent list the National Association of Distinguished Counsel (NADC). The mission of the NADC is to recognize attorneys who exemplify and elevate the standards of the bar and provide a benchmark of accomplishment for other lawyers.

South Texas College of Law/Houston Alumni Association Board of Director Jon Paul Hoelscher '05 has been elected by his peers to serve as the Houston Chairperson for the Young Construction Lawyers Committee for the Construction Law Section of the State Bar of Texas.

Barapalooza Schedule Released for July 2015 Bar Exam
In an effort to assist STCL’s alumni taking the upcoming July 2015 Texas bar exam, several STCL faculty members will provide a FREE supplemental lecture series to alumni. The three-day program is designed to practically tackle several key areas of the exam and strategies to handle essay questions on each. Those STCL students/alumni taking the July bar exam are encouraged to attend, free of charge, and take advantage of this unique opportunity.
