Ways to Give at the End of the Year 

To obtain a tax receipt for 2025, all gifts must be received or postmarked by December 31 at midnight.  


Online via Credit Card – The most convenient and expedient way to ensure your year-end gift is received by the December 31, 2025 tax year deadline. Please visit this link to make a gift online. 

 
Mail a Check – If you are sending your contribution through the U.S. Postal Service, the envelope must be postmarked no later than December 31. Please make your check out to “South Texas College of Law Houston,” note your gift designation on the memo line or in an accompanying note, and mail your gift:

Gift of Securities – Donated stocks provide tax deductions for the market value of the securities, computed on the day of transfer, while avoiding payment of capital gains on the appreciated value of the stock. The date of your stock gift will be the date the securities are officially received in STCL’s account. 

 

If the securities are held by your bank or broker, it is usually best to transfer them electronically via the Depository Trust Co. (DTC) system.

Donor-Advised Fund (DAF) Gifts – A simple, flexible, and tax-efficient way to support South Texas College of Law Houston. You can recommend a grant from your DAF at any time by providing your fund administrator (such as Fidelity Charitable, Schwab Charitable, or Vanguard Charitable) with our legal name, EIN, and mailing address.

DAFs also allow donors to give appreciated assets, which can provide additional tax advantages, and they simplify charitable giving by consolidating all records and receipts in one place.

Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCDs) – Allows individuals aged 70½ or older to make a direct contribution from their IRA to South Texas College of Law Houston. A QCD can count toward your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) and may reduce your taxable income, making it a highly tax-effective way to give.

To make a QCD, instruct your IRA custodian to issue the check directly to:
